On Stage: Swingtime. Jazz veterans Golla, Gaston, Henrich and Rippingale with vocalist Di Bird return to the Empire by popular request.

On Screen: Swingtime.  Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers sing and dance to the music of Jerome Kern in this depression busting hit from 1936.

August 26

On Stage: The Jugalug String Band.  Direct from the Newscastle Jazz Festival, great vintage jazz played on vintage instruments.

On Screen: Oklahoma.  Based on Rogers and Hammerstein's 1943 Broadway hit with timeless songs and the beautiful voices of Gordon MacRae and Shirley Jones.

October 28

On Stage: The Bakelite Broadcasters with Greg Poppleton on vocals.  Enjoy authentic interpretations of popular standards from the 20s and 30s as the band swing and Greg croons the tunes.

On Screen: Singin' in the Rain.  MGM's classic musical from 1952.  Gene Kelly, Donald O'Connor and Debbie Reynolds enjoy the best of a song and dance trip through the difficult transition from silent to talkies.
