Earth Flix Cinema 4 Change

Our Earth Flix: Cinema 4 Change program was launched on Wednesday, 31 January 2024. Earth Flix was created to promote and share films and documentaries that highlight environmental issues, screened locally to entertain, educate and inspire our community.

The program has received support from many, but special thanks go out to Suzannah Cowley and Nigel Christensen of Nviro Media who have supported every screening and provided excellent short documentaries for multiple events, and to Craig Reucassel for helping get this program off the ground with the soft launch in December 2023.

In the first year, over 1200 people attended our Earth Flix events. Each event includes a short documentary followed by a Q and A with special guests, some local and some involved in the film's creation.

Earth Flix Screening: I Am Greta

I Am Greta is an intimate and powerful documentary that follows the extraordinary journey of Greta Thunberg, the Swedish teenager who sparked a global climate movement. What begins as a solitary school strike outside the Swedish Parliament quickly grows into an international call to action, inspiring millions to demand urgent solutions to the climate crisis.

Through raw and personal footage, the film captures Greta’s unwavering determination, her struggles with criticism and political resistance, and the immense pressure of becoming the face of youth activism. It explores themes of courage, resilience, and the power of one voice to ignite change, while revealing the emotional and physical toll of fighting for a liveable planet.

From quiet moments at home to commanding speeches at the United Nations, I Am Greta offers a rare glimpse behind the headlines, showing the human side of a movement that transcends borders. This is not just a story about climate change—it’s a story about hope, persistence, and the unstoppable force of young people demanding a better future.

Join us for this inspiring film and discover how one teenager’s stand became a worldwide revolution.

Following I Am Greta we will see Regenerating Australia which is a hopeful 17‑minute film imagining what the nation could look like by 2030 if guided by community vision and regenerative solutions. Directed by Damon Gameau, the film is based on interviews with Australians, it presents a future shaped by clean energy, thriving communities, regenerative agriculture and renewed ecosystems, framed as news reports from a transformed decade.

Stay with us after the screenings for a special Q&A session featuring local youth advocate Josh McKay and Disaster Recovery Clinician Natalie Downie (NSW Gov), who will share their insights, experiences, and reflections on both films.
